What is a serigraph?

Serigraphy is a printing technique that uses a woven mesh to support an ink-blocking stencil to receive a desired image.  Serigraph and screen print are synonymous.

One color is printed at a time, so several screens can be used to produce a multicolored image or design.

Credit is generally given to the artist Andy Warhol for popularizing screen printing as an artistic technique, identified as serigraphy, in the United States.
